Align Yourself with the Frequency of Your Design
A deeper look at recurring life themes, the helical nature of DNA, and Human Design.
I often see the phrase “align yourself with….”, but never with any explanation of what the writer means by it, or how it works.
As I refine my relationship to the themes that occur in me, I align myself so that my everyday living more closely reflects the underlying pattern of my design. More than that, I also align myself with the multiple helices around me so I can be more in tune (in touch?) with those designs. Let me explain.
Have you noticed that the same themes seem to play out over and over in your life as an individual? I have. Have you also noticed that other themes play out in the various groups to which we belong? Groups such as church, school, teams, workplace, social, etc.
I began to explore DNA and discovered that the helix was the basic structure of DNA. A helix is a three-dimensional spiral, like the shape of a spring or the railing on a spiral staircase. A DNA molecule consists of two helices intertwined.
At some point, I realized that duality and rotation play out (for us) in a helical structure of continuing refinement. We visit the same themes repeatedly, both as our individual frequency and as members of concentric rings of membership in various groups with their own frequency. Also, even humanity in general, as Individual, Collective, and Tribal themes, and finally in Species themes.
Understanding my own ‘frequency’ (the pattern, duration, rate of change between themes, etc.) was a new unfolding in my life. When looking at a Human Design chart, it’s so easy to forget that it is whole. It represents our neural wiring when we come into the world.
Duality is the mechanism by which I can examine the same thing over and over, seeing it first as ‘this’ and then as ‘that’ until I get some grasp of the underlying oneness.
On a helix, every point in the helix has an ‘opposite’ point, both slightly above and slightly below, so our DNA has the capacity to be somewhat aware of what was, what is, and what will be, both in terms of this side of the point on the helix and the other.
In some mysterious way, my response to each thematic reiteration slightly changes all the past iterations. It sets a predisposition on my part as to how I will interact with future iterations. The predisposition isn’t necessarily a ‘fixed’ disposition, as my response to one theme may have a spillover effect into another one that may relax or intensify the fixedness.
I wrote the outline for this article in 2008, so I was 8 years into my experiment, and I’m still dealing with various major themes, refining my reaction to them, refining my perception of them.
What themes are you visiting repeatedly in your frequency individually and/or as a member of a group?
Not everyone is meant to go deep with Human Design. But sometimes the work asks for more: a closer look, a deeper conversation, a space to see what’s really moving, a clear path forward to guide others. That’s where my Human Design readings, 1:1 sessions, and mentoring come in.
